GTS is responsible for the provision, support and ongoing maintenance of IT operating platforms, applications and services. There is also a strong connection with external providers necessitating vendor and service provider management. GTS is responsible for driving the technology strategy and providing IT infrastructure solutions that are in alignment with business objectives and the GTS technology strategy.

This position is staffed as part of the IBM systems programming environment support team primarily supporting the company’s CICS and secondarily the mainframe MQ systems. Responsibilities include installing, testing, maintaining, documenting, administration, and providing high level technical support for mainframe CICS and MQ operating subsystem software and ancillary CICS software products.
What will be your duties?
- Provide day to day support with some variation in schedule to support non-prime business hours, including weekends.
- Resolve problems to final resolution with root cause.
- Daily monitoring of key CICS/MQ system metric to identify improvement opportunities.
- Reviewing system dumps, logrec, hiper maintenance on a regular basis
- On-call support and fulfilling support requests/questions from customers.
- Supporting disaster recovery testing exercise.
- Installing and/or upgrading third-party CICS software and software fixes.
Elvárások / Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of z/OS, CICS, MQ and related components and an understanding of one or more programming languages
- Be proficient in the use of JCL, TSO/ISPF and SDSF and have a solid understanding of CICS and MQ concepts and fundamentals
- Have experience in supporting the CICS/MQ requirements of application programmers is desirable.
- Knowledge of MVS computing systems architecture, of MVS programming and operating system principles, and of large-scale systems operations and procedures is also required.
- Also have experience with JES2, installation and maintenance of mainframe hardware and software (SMP/E), and CICS/MQ performance, tuning, and monitoring skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and technical knowledge is required.
- Minimum of five years previous system engineer experience is required with an emphasis in CICS and/or MQ.
Additional helpful skills include:
- Experience in writing and debugging Assembler code,
- Experience in the use of SMP/E for software installation, JAVA experience, Open system skills (Linux and Unix System Services), REXX, Object Oriented Programming and Websphere/MQ.
