Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with organizational goals and long-term business objectives.
Solution Oversight: Lead the design and implementation of cloud solutions, ensuring high availability and stability for all managed platforms and services.
Team Development: Build and lead multidisciplinary teams of cloud, platform, and DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous professional growth.
Governance & Security: Oversee platform governance and integrity, ensuring all security protocols and access controls are strictly maintained.
Financial Operations (FinOps): Manage cloud expenditures across multiple providers, implementing cost-optimization strategies and ensuring financial accountability.
Change Management: Perform advanced impact analyses for platform changes and provide precise technical estimates for planned service evolutions.
Standards & Best Practices: Establish and enforce industry-leading standards for cloud operations, challenging existing processes to drive higher quality.
Innovation: Conduct continuous horizon scanning for emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of the technological curve.
Additional responsibilities:
Continuous Research: Maintain an expert-level understanding of cloud developments, tools, and solutions to ensure technology effectively delivers on business objectives.
Documentation Management: Oversee the creation and maintenance of high-quality technical documentation for all cloud platforms to facilitate seamless knowledge transfer.
Operational Excellence: Deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines, proactively proposing improvements and escalating risks appropriately.
Compliance & Ethics: Operate strictly within internal policies, financial regulations, legislative requirements, and core organizational values.
Professional Development: Actively identify and pursue training needs to keep technical skills aligned with evolving business requirements.
Culture & Well-being: Promote a safe, inclusive, and diverse work environment that prioritizes the well-being of all team members.
Adaptive Support: Undertake additional duties as required to support the overall purpose of the role and organizational success.
Operating Systems: Proficiency in Unix, Linux, and Windows environments.
Advanced DevOps Mastery: Deep expertise in GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Cloud Architecture: Extensive experience with microservices, containerization (Docker, Podman), and orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS ECS).
Strategic Platforms: Proven track record with major cloud providers, specifically AWS and Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, and XaaS models.
Infrastructure Management: Skilled in the full lifecycle of platform operations, including design, capacity planning, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
Tooling Expertise:
IaC: Terraform, Pulumi, Crossplane, or Ansible.
CI/CD & GitOps: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or Flux.
Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
Security: Integration of security-focused tools like Checkov, Snyk, SonarCloud, and OPA.
Hybrid Environments: Practical knowledge of diverse hosting models, including on-premise, private, public, and hybrid cloud solutions.
Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with a focus on collaborating with internal teams, external suppliers, and customers.
Problem Solving: An automation-first mindset with the technical versatility to handle both proactive platform improvements and reactive support.
