Pozíció leírása / Job description

The Head of Shared Platforms and Applications (Head of SPA) will be responsible for the platforms and applications that support shared processes and functions (e.g. HR, Tax, Risk, Procurement, etc.) globally.  As Aegon begins to take better advantage of its global reach and global scale, being able to have the systems in place to provide global views of information will be of increasing importance.  The Head of SPA will work closely with senior executives and the Aegon Board to enable innovation and growth while ensuring the quality of service aligned to business-driven priorities. The Head of SPA oversees teams responsible for the global platforms and applications and will be accountable to deliver shared IT solutions enabling the Business units with consistent IT deliveries. Will find collaboration opportunities and re-use intelligent solutions.

The Head of SPA will directly report to the Global Chief Technology Officer and will be part of the Global Technology Services Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the CTO's of Business Units and Corporate Center to understand their business and IT strategy in order to develop strategic plans for potential shared IT.
  • Accountable for financial responsibility for the Shared Platforms and Applications budget including budget planning, financial reporting, and forecasting.
  • Participate as a member of the Global Technology Services (GTS) Leadership team – comprised of the global technology heads of Finance, Engineering and Architecture, Information Security, Internal Controls, Analytics, Procurement, and Infrastructure - and the Global Information Technology Board (GITB) – which includes the GTS Leadership team, plus all the other global CTO, leaders
  • Participate as needed in function-specific leadership meetings to provide status on ongoing projects or activities, or discuss the business strategy that impacts the supporting technology
  • Accountable for delivery of global projects and programs defined by the Corporate Center leadership such as Risk or HR technology projects
  • Review and approve IT contracts together with Global IT Procurement (GPO).
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff
  • Present data and information in a comprehensive and credible manner to company leaders and Board members
  • Collaborate with business unit CTO's and leaders from across the business to identify and adopt technologies that support business solutions
  • Lead a team of experienced professionals and foster collaboration across multiple geographies in the organization; use business knowledge and expertise to provide advice and assistance to staff
  • Use strategic and financial acumen to create business cases and oversee complex budgeting and chargeback processes
  • Use in-depth knowledge of the current technology landscape to quickly assist with and drive technology selection and build vs. buy vs. integrate decision-making process

Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience

  • MSc in IT or technology and a minimum of 15 years of experience in the field of IT and operations
  • Experienced background with Corporate systems, preferably on a global scale
  • A good understanding of the insurance/financial services industry is a plus. Must understand business/IT alignment and be able to tune in in different environments or businesses.
  • Knowledge and experience with IT governance and IT risk control frameworks (e.g. COBIT, ITIL).
  • Proven senior IT management experience including multi-country IT project delivery in a large organization.
  • Experience in driving and simplifying complex business and IT strategy
  • Service-oriented
